I have had a big FAT dose of the winter blues lately, and spring seems so far away even if it is only a few months! So i wanted to do something to bring it a little bit closer so it seemed within reach! So i thought i would do a feature that shows things i have DIY'ed/customised ready for spring.
So i went through all my old jeans and found a pair from Topshop that i do not wear anymore, so i got my scissors and hacked them up! I loved these as jeans but they had ink splatted on them from an art class which wouldnt wash out so instead of chucking them i cut them into shorts then made the ink splats into holes and frayed slightly, making them like the ones you can get in shops anywhere but mine are just how i want them with just the right amount/size of holes (i didnt want big gaping rips so you could see my skin when i wore them) then i just frayed the bottoms of the shorts slightly.
I ended up with shorts all ready for the spring time, it did take me a while to get back into the swing of things with the sewing machine though (im a tad rusty i havent sewn since school) but hey i got there in the end! I think that making your own is so much better than just going to a shop and buying a pair, with diying your own you end up with a bespoke item that no one else anywhere will have, plus you can customise it exactly how you want to (rip where you want fray as little/ as much as you want and have them as short as you like)

Its amazing how you can get a brand new pair of shorts from old jeans that i wouldnt of wore again, plus i wont have to splurge out on denim shorts for the spring/summer i can spend it on lots of other goodies! The only thing now is that i have LOTS of left over denim and i havent a clue what to make with it...hmmmmm?!?
