#01 Spring Stitching

I have had a big FAT dose of the winter blues lately, and spring seems so far away even if it is only a few months! So i wanted to do something to bring it a little bit closer so it seemed within reach! So i thought i would do a feature that shows things i have DIY'ed/customised ready for spring.

So i went through all my old jeans and found a pair from Topshop that i do not wear anymore, so i got my scissors and hacked them up! I loved these as jeans but they had ink splatted on them from an art class which wouldnt wash out so instead of chucking them i cut them into shorts then made the ink splats into holes and frayed slightly, making them like the ones you can get in shops anywhere but mine are just how i want them with just the right amount/size of holes (i didnt want big gaping rips so you could see my skin when i wore them) then i just frayed the bottoms of the shorts slightly.

I ended up with shorts all ready for the spring time, it did take me a while to get back into the swing of things with the sewing machine though (im a tad rusty i havent sewn since school) but hey i got there in the end! I think that making your own is so much better than just going to a shop and buying a pair, with diying your own you end up with a bespoke item that no one else anywhere will have, plus you can customise it exactly how you want to (rip where you want fray as little/ as much as you want and have them as short as you like)

Its amazing how you can get a brand new pair of shorts from old jeans that i wouldnt of wore again, plus i wont have to splurge out on denim shorts for the spring/summer i can spend it on lots of other goodies! The only thing now is that i have LOTS of left over denim and i havent a clue what to make with it...hmmmmm?!?

What do you think?

A Whole New Look

So spring is coming up fast, not that we get much of the spring season in this country usually its just rain rain rain, theres always a little hope in me though! I have mentioned in previous posts that i wear far to much black so have decided spring is the season for me to brighten up, especially with the block colour trend hitting all the shops! After having a good long browse through all the collections featured in The Look Show 2011 (if only i could of been there boo hoo), one collection in particular really stood out, NEW LOOK!

I think it has definitely earned great reviews with this collections and whilst alot of bloggers have featured Topshop's latest collection (dont get me wrong all their are amazing, Topshop will always be my first love haha) i thought i would do a post on New Look, for the sole reason that up until a few months ago, i had literally never purchased an item of clothing from there, cause to be frank i just didnt like what they had to offer! All this changed when i went online to browse the shirts a blouses as i had heard many good reports and found several that i loved which led me to spend a lot more timing having a good old look through and found SO much stuff that i loved (I have recieved two of the lovely blouses i ordered last week, today in the post which i will photograph and post later). So after seeing there S/S 2011, i new it would definitely becoming a regular shopping haunt!

(Photographs from Look.co.uk)

These are just a few of my favourite, but i think the entire collection is just gorgeous!

A Nice Little Package

I LOVE recieving stuff in the post, its so exciting (well unless its bills or serious stuff bluergh!) and i had a little online spree last week as i havent relly had a big splurge since before christmas due to unsufficient funds :( but anyway ive had three seperate deliveries today which have brightened my week right up So heres what i bought....

What do you think? I love them! The photo of the black shirt isnt the best, i find black doesnt photograph too well! Also ill be posting my first OOTD this sunday would love to know what you all think!

#01 Shopping Haul

URGH. That sums up exactly how im feeling on this horrible drab saturday afternoon after a full weeks worth of 12 hour shifts, have never been so busy! So i thought i deserved a treat and had been after a few items for a while so thought SOD IT. Im buying them haha, so here are what ive just ordered online so they should come in the week so i will do a post with pictures of the items i take myself!

Two more black additions to the wardrobe, i need to STOP buying black, but i cant help it, its timeless and obviously goes with everything!!!

Im going to spent my day beautifying & charging my batteries to start work again tomorrow

7 Things About Little Old Me...

Thank you :)

A big thanks to Sophie Isobel for tagging me in her post the other day, now i have to follow the rules and tell 7 things about myself..

1. Im training to be a nurse, halfway through at this moment in time! Love it, but extremely hard work!

2. I am OBSESSED with all things american, i really do think i should of been born there haha, hope to move there one day

3. I could live off any cheese and red wine (most people say eww when i tell them about my love for red wine, but i love it so much ever since i took a trip to rome where i first tried it)

4. I wear far to much black most of my wardrobe is black, so over the last month i have gradually started to inject a bit of colour into my wardrobe which i think is very brave of me!

5. I idolise Audrey Hepburn i think shes amazing, and so timeless i have pictures of her all over my room!

6. I am THE clumsiest person alive, i knock about two drinks over a day and drop everything i pick up haha!

7. I worry about the tiniest insignificant things, and dont care about the REALLY important stuff that i should do, i annoy myself rather alot!

This heart, it beats, beats for only you.

Happy valentines day

For a valentines inspired post, i thought it was fitting to show the gorgeous gold heart locket i have recently received which was originally my great grandmothers but given to me by my mum! The watch in the locket is actually upside down so you can look at it when your actually wearing it around your neck which makes me think it was actually used to tell the time rather than worn for show! It doesn't have a chain but i am looking for one so i can wear it, the chain will have to be thin but strong as well as the heart is quite heavy, also i think a thinner chain will suit the locket much better, i will probably wear it for special occasions only as it is a one off vintage piece and i definitely don't want to risk wrecking it, ahhhh i just LOVE it :)

Valentines Inspired ♥

I thought i would do a little post of a little wish list i have at the moment, but also valentines inspired, bearing in mind i genuinely want these items (i haven't just chucked them on to make a post ha ha). I'm so into red at the moment, i just think its a timeless colour and i need to start injecting a bit of colour into my dull dark winter wardrobe urghhhhhhhhh fed up of wearing black to suit the weather!!!

1. Red suede 'VAMP' platforms, i have super sized these shoes as they are actually to die for! I have been after these shoes for a while they are £75.00 from Topshop but i am struggling to get the money together to buy them (I am literally the worst saver EVER, i cannot save, my mum controls my savings account cause im really that bad ha ha) plus they are out of stock at the moment, so this may work in my favour and buy me more time, or they may never come back in stock again and i will die from devastation (Yes, i love them THAT much).

2. Return to Tiffany chain from Tiffany, imagine recieving this for Valentines day? I would love this necklace as i got the matching bracelet about two years ago as a christmas present and would love the matching neclace, what a gorgeous set of jewellery which i would be scared to wear as i am the dosiest person ever i would probably lose it or something!!

3. I had of pair of these red knee high socks nearly exactly the same as these ones also from Topshop but i seem to have lost ONE of the socks (see i said i was dosey haha) so when i spotted these almost identical ones i new i had to get them to replace my others! I think these would look fab pushed down so they wrinkle up with a floral spring dress (In spring of course, not long to go now woohoo).

4. I searched everywhere for the perfect red lipstick to match my skin tone (Pale, auburn hair) i finally found a gorgeous bright red, that a lot of people commented saying it suited me, but i really love the look of a dark deeper red aswell, this one from Topshop is perfect but i would have to go into the shop and try it first before buying it as it mightnt suit me! Also i have only recently discovered Topshop make up and think its FAB, bang on trend at cheap prices as well!

5. I spotted this tee on Polyvore and loved it, i love tees and the fact that you can just throw them on with leggings or skinnies and still feel great. The fringing detail on this is fab, i would definitely wear this with black leggings and killer boots, such a simple look!

#01 Jewellery Haul

I love costume jewellery and think that a great peice can make an outfit so thought i would do regular posts of my finds as i tend to buy a lot! I have picked up a few bits recently and wanted to show them, with my harry potter book in the background haha which i was reading at the time i took the pictures for like the MILLIONTH time!!

1. This swallow necklace is the best little find, i have been looking for a swallow necklace for AGES and was very particular about the size i wanted and length of chain etc. I wanted one which i could wear almost everyday that wasnt so much costume style! I found this one on ebay after trawling through thousands of pictures, was such a bargain as well, i picked it up for about £3.00, not bad for something i now wear nearly every day, also the seller was so nice and send me a little extra gift for free, they where tiny gold coloured drop earrings, so cute aswell (ill show these in a later picture when i wear them)

2. I picked up this double LOVE ring in the miss selfridge sale for £3.50, its a tiny bit to big around my fingers but i didnt care as i HAD to have it when i seen it! I love the block lettering, and im loving double rings at the moment!

3. I got this ring in the topshop winter sale, i love the intricate detail and small dark brown coloured stones, i always wonder how they can put that much detail into something so small and again its a double ring!! It fits perfectly as well as it is adjustable! This was £3.00!

I am going to wear my swallow and LOVE ring tonight, i am going out for a italian for valentines day as my bf wont be here on the actual day, yum i cannot wait!
